Ministry Opportunities at Poplar Grove Baptist Church
Job Description: Minister of Music
Principal Function: The Minister of Music is a pastor called to develop, plan, administer, and lead the music ministries of PGBC to ensure that congregational music continues to grow in scope and excellence to the glory of God and in harmony with the church’s mission statement.
Time Requirement: Part-time (10-15 hours)
Supervises: Music Ministry band, choir director(s), choir, and A/V team
Reports To: Senior Pastor and Personnel Team
Specific Responsibilities
- Oversee the worship/music programs of the church.
- Make sure music ministry supports the mission statement of PGBC and effectively develop in the membership an increasing love for God.
- Plan the music content of all worship services and other special services in partnership with the Senior Pastor, providing choirs, ensembles and/or soloists at all services throughout the year.
- Engage and lead the congregation in a worship experience that glorifies God, recognizes His presence, and celebrates His worth.
- Oversee audio and media teams. Use ProPresenter, Planning Center, and other media.
- Lead or Guide and oversee choir director(s) in leading the choir rehearsals.
- Guide, oversee, recruit, and train band members.
- Work with the pastor in selecting music for regular and special worship services – including weddings, funerals and special projects.
- When necessary, work with children’s director to use the children’s choir in corporate services.
- Leadership Development
- Recruit and develop individuals with the spiritual maturity, gifts, and talents to staff the church’s music ministry.
- Administration
- Submit and manage the worship ministry budgets.
- Be responsible for and oversee the maintenance and care of music, musical instruments, lighting, sound and related equipment.
- Maintain the music library of the church. May be able to utilize an intern to help delegate transfer of paper music to digital documents to begin converting to digital library.
- Ensure compliance with copyright laws as it relates to the worship ministries

- Grow in your personal walk with the Lord. Faithfully practice the spiritual disciplines of Bible study, prayer, worship, stewardship, evangelism, fellowship, fasting, and service.
- Pursue opportunities for professional development.
3. Spiritual Milk to Spiritual Feast
Every student from the time they enter our youth ministry, must leave as a 12th grader with essential doctrines and teachings in place. Our commitment as a church, Pastor and as Adult Leaders is to help disciple and teach the commands and doctrines of Scripture.
