Giving God Fearful Gratitude In the Ordinary

What if the ordinary moments of our daily lives are anything but ordinary? In this message drawn from Numbers 22, we explore the remarkable account of Balaam, his donkey, and a divine encounter that stopped a man in his tracks. At the heart of the story is a profound question: do we have eyes to see God at work in the routine, the mundane, the unexpected detour? The account reveals that God used an ordinary business trip and a common animal to confront a man whose pride and greed had put him on a collision course with divine opposition. The spiritual lesson cuts deep: when life swerves off course, when we find ourselves pressed against walls we did not anticipate, God may be calling our attention to something far greater than an inconvenient day. We are reminded that unchecked pride, hypocrisy, and unrepentant rebellion can place us in a position where God himself stands against us. And yet, even in opposition, we see a God of patient mercy who warns before he judges. The message challenges us to approach every ordinary moment with what is called fearful gratitude, a reverent awareness that the God of the universe is present, active, and deeply personal in the details of our lives.
