A Letter to Self, Satan, Sin, and World
- Sermon Series: Jeremiah

Sermon Description
How do you respond to the guilt of the daily struggles of sin? Or the memory the exposure of secret sin? Or the scars of the fruit of sin? Or the harm to others because of your sin? Are you ready to move on? Are you tired of losing the battle of sin and guilt? Are you ready to break the cycle and begin walking in freedom and liberty?
“Our sins are debts that none can pay but Christ. It is not our tears, but His blood; not our sighs but His sufferings, that can testify for our sins. Christ must pay all or we are prisoners forever.” -Thomas Brooks
Jeremiah provides us with an action plan for addressing the thoughts of guilt for sin. I want to give you a script to recite to your enemy—self, Satan, sin, or the world—each time you are faced with sin’s guilt.
I. I submit to God and resist you (self, Satan, sin, and world), By resolving to not mistrust God even though the other side seems more convincing (“declares the LORD”)
II. I submit to God and resist you (self, Satan, sin, and world), By relishing the gift and contentment of a deeper understanding of God’s Son
III. I submit to God and resist you (self, Satan, sin, and world), By receiving God’s sufficient solution for my sin and renouncing all homemade remedies (Luke 22)
IV. I submit to God and resist you (self, Satan, sin, and world), By relying on the guidance and joy of God’s spirit within me (2 Cor 3)
